How to optimize BlogSpot content for SEO Using Rank Math
Let’s be serious, Rank Math is the best SEO Plugin for WordPress users. It cannot be installed on Google’s Blogger (BlogSpot). You will need to install WordPress locally on your computer in other to make this work.
Don’t worry, it is easy. And you don’t even need a hosting plan to do this.
First of all, you need to install software that will enable you to run apache on your computer. I will be using XAMP for this tutorial.
XAMPP stands for cross-platform, Apache, MySQL, PHP and Perl,. It is what we need to run Apache on a local computer.
Head over to their official website and download it to your computer. Once the program is downloaded and installed, navigate to Start > all programs > Xamp > control panel and start Apache and MySQL.
One Apache and MySQL is running, open your favorite browser and type in “Localhost” without quotes. You will then see a welcome screen that looks like this:
Next step is to install WordPress on your localhost. Head over to WordPress official website to download the latest version of WordPress to your computer.
Once downloaded, you have to unzip it and copy everything within it to C:\xampp\htdocs as seen in the image below.
Go right back to your browser and type in “localhost/phpmyadmin/” without quotes. It will then open your localhost PHP admin area. This is where you will manage your databases.
Then, create a new database for your local WordPress site.
Let’s name this database “WordPress”. You don’t need to create a table for it. WordPress will handle that from the backend.
Next, go to “C:\xampp\htdocs\wp-config-sample.php” and open with a text editor (I recommend notepad++), and change the following line of codes:
define( 'DB_NAME', 'database_name_here' ); /** MySQL database username */ define( 'DB_USER', 'username_here' ); /** MySQL database password */ define( 'DB_PASSWORD', 'password_here' ); /** MySQL hostname */ define( 'DB_HOST', 'localhost' ); /** Database Charset to use in creating database tables. */ define( 'DB_CHARSET', 'utf8' ); /** The Database Collate type. Don't change this if in doubt. */ define( 'DB_COLLATE', '' );
define( 'DB_NAME', 'wordpress' ); /** MySQL database username */ define( 'DB_USER', 'root' ); /** MySQL database password */ define( 'DB_PASSWORD', '' ); /** MySQL hostname */ define( 'DB_HOST', 'localhost' ); /** Database Charset to use in creating database tables. */ define( 'DB_CHARSET', 'utf8' ); /** The Database Collate type. Don't change this if in doubt. */ define( 'DB_COLLATE', '' );
Go back to your browser and type in “localhost” again without quotes. This is when WordPress starts to install.
Choose your Language and type in your site name, tag line, email and password to complete installation.
If the installation was successful, you will be able to login to your local WordPress admin area when you type “localhost/wp-admin”.
