Want to launch an affiliate marketing website and start making some money on the go? then this guide is for you.
One of the best ways to earn a reasonable amount of money from the internet is by selling products and services to people who are interested in buying them. and to do that, you need to become an affiliate and probably own an affiliate website.
But What if you don’t have a product of your own to sell?
With affiliate marketing, marketers who have no product of their own can easily sell other people’s products and services either on their website or on social media and earn v a commission per sale.
Setting up websites for an affiliate purpose can be a little bit challenging, especially for someone who just started blogging, or someone with little or no idea on how online earnings works.
In this guide, I will walk you through the process of setting up an affiliate website from the planning to the finishing.
What is affiliate marketing?
“Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing where you get paid for each visitor or verified purchase made through your own affiliate link.”
To break it down a little, when you(an affiliate) sells a product that belongs to a company, the company pays you a commission – usually 3% to 10% depending on your agreement with them.
That’s means, if you agree on a 10% commission per sale, you will be making $250 anytime you help them sell a product worth $2500. If you sell 10 products, you will earn $250 x 10 = $25000. The more sales you generate, the more money you will be making.
Why should you start affiliate marketing?
There are undoubtedly hundreds of ways to earn on the Internet. Among them, affiliate marketing rocks!
Affiliate marketing is a start-up you can start with no capital. In fact, everyone including secondary school students can start making money through affiliate marketing without investing a dime.
If you can’t find any reason to start affiliate marketing, At least consider these:
- It is very easy to start, and it doesn’t require capital
- You will be your own boss
- You will be selling what you want
Setting up an affiliate marketing website
You may have a website or a blog for helping people solve their problems but trust me, it’s far from what we are about to start right now!
Niche selection: what kind of products will you promote on your website?
In this step, you are going to learn the importance of niche selection, how to choose a niche that will bring you a fortune.
In marketing, a niche is a portion of the market that one can decide to concentrate on. Choosing a niche will help you concentrate on a particular area of an open market and make you thoroughly understand who your audience is, where they are and what they want so as to serve them better.
Niche selection is the first step of every small business, including affiliate marketing. One mistake most startups make is trying to sell to everyone on the internet. Don’t think because Jumia made it selling all kinds of products to all kinds of people, you are going to make it! That’s a fat lie.
As an affiliate, you need some level of trust from the people who you are trying to sell to. And they can only trust you if you are kind enough to concentrate on a particular niche.
The domain name and a web host:
The second step to creating an affiliate website is getting a domain name and a web host. Let’s talk about this…
A domain name is a name by which your website can be reached. It usually takes the form of two main elements, “the website name” and the “domain extension”. For example, the domain name “mktprofit.com” has “mktprofit – website name” and “.com – domain extensions”.
Domain names only cost from $9.99 and if you are a new timer, you can get it as low as $0.99 for the first year! Thanks to GoDaddy.
Coming to the web host, I wouldn’t want you to spend too much money on hosting your website yet. Besides, I promised you a ZERO investment.!
But if you have money to invest in hosting your website, that’s cool! I can proudly refer you to Bluehost. They have a great plan for WordPress.
So, let’s continue with free hosting…
